GYROTONIC AND PHYSICAL PREPARATION
PHYSICAL PREPARATION WITH THE GYROTONIC METHOD
THE GYROTONIC METHOD IS RECOGNIZED AS ENABLING YOU TO « GAIN » PRECISION MINUTES AT HIGH LEVEL.
High performance athletes all over the world incorporate this technique into their training. Originally created for dancers, the pulley system of GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® equipment allows you to reproduce any movement and to work on it very accurately.
THE GYROTONIC METHOD FOR PHYSICAL PREPARATION
It respects the body’s biomechanics and natural breathing and can be adapted to all sports.
- Energizes physical potential
- Helps improve performance
- Develops coordination, flexibility, strength, endurance, relaxation and power
- Protects the body and fosters better recovery

PHYSICAL PREPARATION WITH THE GYROTONIC METHOD
ARE YOU A HIGH PERFORMANCE ATHLETE ?
Nathalie Longeville Pasquier, former dancer and stunts woman has worked with many athletes and over 25 years of practice has learned how to tailor the method to any athletic needs:
- Understand the specific needs of any discipline.
- Integrate the method into the training of each athlete who is already very engaged.
- Adapt the right exercises thanks to a global vision of the system.
- Organize a Muscular Reprogramming Retreat
THE METHOD APPLIES TO ALL SPORTS AND ALL LEVELS:
What is unique about this practice is that it is both excentric (stretching) and concentric (strengthening) and always tri-dimensional:
Dynamizing your physical potential
We rebalance posture and all of the muscle groups while preserving the joints and also stimulating the tendons and the deeper small muscles responsible for accuracy.
The result is better core conditioning, a centered feeling and inner strength combined with better elasticity, which considerably optimizes the strengths of athletes.
Better performance
The more you promote optimal conditions with a healthy body, and healthy muscle groups, the more the body and the organism respond and better adapt.
Many athletes notice an increase in their endurance as well as their accuracy by regularly practicing Gyrotonic exercises.
Develops coordination, flexibility, strength, endurance, relaxation and power.
WHAT CAN GYROTONIC® DO FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE ATHLETES ?
To create the Gyrotonic method, Juliu Horvath was inspired by nature and animals. Many animals, especially felines yawn and stretch regularly and spontaneously. In doing so, they rebalance their bearings relative to the spine, their muscle groups and breathing.
The importance of the spine:
A healthy spine, along with the psoas and pelvis, acts as a shock absorber which enables a better distribution of forces when the body is in movement. If it is rigid, the joints bear the load leading to injuries.
The spine also transports all information to the body (blood, nerves, etc.) The healthier it is, the healthier and better the entire body reacts.
All Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis movements start from the spine which is the essence of the method.
For the high performance athlete, it is critical to manage his or her center of gravity and inner strength.
Power – The right amount: Stability and Mobility must be balanced with a distribution of forces and optimal bearings to protect the spine and improve agility and reactivity.
If the muscles are strength trained in a repetitive, linear manner, you lose this balance at the expense of performance.
Idem for Flexibility : Too much laxity also creates injury and decreases reactivity.
With the Gyrotonic, method this balance is at the center of physical preparation.
Movements that are both concentric and excentric and especially tri-dimensional.
While other types of training have separate sessions for muscular strengthening, core toning, stretching, proprioception, etc., in Gyrotonic, you stretch , strengthen, and manage balance and the center of gravity in the same movement just like the athlete has to do while performing.
Rhythm, Flow and Breathing
When in action the athlete generates a wave of movement with his or her own strength and flexibility which solicit bearings, relaxation, and the propagation of this same movement to its final goal.
It is the rhythm that will enable coordination of the movement with the required force and flexibility.
Gyrotonic sessions are never fragmented but are linked to the rhythm of breathing : they prepare stimulation of each muscle group and layer to be synchronized in action.
The more breathing is appropriate to the objective of the movement, the more the movement will be naturally efficient.
Mind
The Gyrotonic method challenges the nervous system continuously in line with changes in rhythm and tempo, breathing, work of the spine, coordination, resistance and different sequences.
The nervous system becomes adaptable and enables the athlete to remain focused and better manage stress.
